Mermaid

Nyt kesäaikaan erilaiset meri- ja rantakynnet tuntuvat olevan taas nosteessa. Yksi ilta päätin itse kokeilla merenneitokynsiä, apuna uusi Born Pretty Storen varjokuvalaatta, BP-L021. Edellisinä päivinä olin lyhentänyt kynsiä taas oikein kunnolla. Eniten kaipailisin samaa kynsimallia kuin As Seen On TV -teemaviikolla nähtiin, mutta jotenkin en vaan osaa sitä enää palauttaa. Miten kynsien viilailu voi ollakin näin hankalaa? Kun nämä kynnet tulevat julkaisuun, olen itse matkalla viettämään kesäpäiviä Tampereelle ja kotiin. Ohjelmassa mm. Nightwishin keikka, kyllä taas kelpaa!

Näiden kynsien varjolla pääsin kätevästi testailemaan erilaisia laatikoista löytyviä uutuuksia, esim. Essien Naughty Nautical ja Zoyan Ana olivat ensimmäistä kertaa kunnolla käytössä. Naughty Nauticalia tuskin tulee itse käytettyä usein isolla pinta-alalla, mutta lakkana se on kuitenkin todella kaunis. Tumma turkoosi kimalteella, kyllä kelpaa, varsinkin tämäntyyliseen lakkaukseen. Keskisormessa oleva läikkä on olevinaan meritähti, lakkana tietysti maailman ihanin Essien Tart Deco.

Leiman siirtyminen aiheutti päänvaivaa ja jouduinkin paikkailemaan muutamaa kohtaa. Jo scraperilla lakkaa poisvetäessä aukkoja vaan aina jäi, joten lopulta oli pakko vain leimata. Pitää muistaa tämä ensi kerralla ja tarkkailla toistuuko samaa ongelmaa laatan muissa kuvioissa. Ainakaan yksisarvisessa tätä ongelmaa ei näkynyt.

Vaikka kynnet ovat onnistuneet ihan perus-ok, niin vähän nyt pohdituttaa näitä kuvia katsellessa. Onko kynsienlakkaus taito mikä häviää kun siihen tulee taukoa? Vai näyttävätkö kynnet kuvissa huonommilta, koska kynsinauhojen hoito on jäänyt puuttumaan vai koska kynsien muoto on hakusassa? Joku tässä yhtälössä ei nyt omaa silmääni miellytä, mutta ehkä se tyytyväisyys palautuu lakkausrutiinien myötä. Ja ehkä se puuttuva tarkkuus lakkailussakin palaa. Ehkä?

During summertime it always seems that nautical and other type of sea nail art becomes really popular. One night I decided to try and do mermaid -nails, using my new Born Pretty Store plate with silhouettes, BP-L021. During last few days I had shortened my nails quite a bit. I would like to have the same shape back what I had during the As Seen On TV -theme week, but I just can't seem to make it work. How can filing nails be so difficult? When these nails will be published, I'm on my way to spend summerdays to Tampere and to my parents' house. In my program there's for example Nightwish concert pt2, I'm really liking this!

I had the perfect chance to use some of my new polishes. In these nails I used Essie's Naughty Nautical and Zoya's Ana. I don't think I will be using Naughty Nautical with a bigger scale, but with these kind of nails it works great. Gotta love that turquoise and shimmer together. That spot on my middle finger is supposed to be a sea star, made with one of the greatest nail polishes ever, Essie's Tart Deco.

Getting the stamping image transferred as a whole was a bit of a headache and I needed to patch few parts after it was done. When I scraped off the extra polish the problem was already there, but finally I just needed to try, no matter what. I need to keep this in mind for the next time and see if the problem is there with other images as well. At least with the unicorn I didn't have any problems.

Even though these nails are quite ok, I'm still having second thoughts about them in these pictures. Is doing nail art a skill that disappeares when time goes by and you don't do it? Or is it that my nails look worse now that I haven't taken care of my cuticles or because of my nail shape isn't spot on? Something in this equation isn't working for me, but maybe that good feeling returns with rutines in doing nail art. And maybe that accuracy will also come back. Maybe?
